B.C. Liberal Party
Der Begriff B.C. Liberal Party ist im englisch-sprachigen Wikipedia aufgeführt. Dort heißt es dazu:

The British Columbia Liberal Party (also referred to as the BC Liberals) is the governing conservative and liberal provincial political party in British Columbia, Canada.
First elected into provincial government in 1916, the party went into decline after 1952, with its rump caucus merging with the Social Credit Party of British Columbia for the 1975 election. It was returned to the legislature through the efforts of Gordon Wilson in a break-through in the 1991 election. At this time, the Social Credit Party had collapsed, with the BC Liberals able to garner the centre vote traditionally split between left and right in British Columbia provincial politics. After Wilson lost a leadership challenge in the wake of a personal scandal in a bitter three-way race, the party was led by Gordon Campbell, who became Leader of the Opposition after Wilson's convention defeat. In the wake of the electoral collapse of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP) in the 2001 election, the Campbell-led BC Liberals won an overwhelming majority in 2001. In November 2010, after mounting public opposition to a new tax and the controversial ending of a political corruption trial, and with low popularity ratings, Campbell announced his resignation, and on February 26, 2011, Christy Clark was elected as the party's new leader and thereby became 35th Premier of British Columbia.
Historically affiliated with the Liberal Party of Canada, the British Columbia Liberal Party became independent of its federal and provincial counterparts in 1987. After the 1991 provincial election, the BC Liberals subsequently displaced the British Columbia Social Credit Party as the province's de facto centre-right party opposed to the centre-left British Columbia New Democratic Party. Polls often show BC Liberal voters to be fairly evenly split between British Columbians who vote Conservative and Liberal in federal elections. The party is commonly described as a "free enterprise coalition".

BC Liberals Suck
Gabriel Laurence Cayer said... I don't think it's "clear that Clark didn't win this election, Dix lost it." Dix squandered most of his lead by heading a pretty lame campaign, but it took a really brilliant Liberal campaign to put Clark all the way over the top. 9:44 PM  BC Liberals Suck said... It is very clear that the NDP (not just Dix) ran "a pretty lame campaign" and this may have squandered a good lead. There is more than one reason this happened, not just a bad campaign strategy. I would hope those of us with a variety of political persuasions can all agree on one thing - that polls are full of crap! We might as well have people throwing bones and soothsaying the outcome of elections from here on out. However, it is absolute nonsense to think "it took a really brilliant Liberal campaign to put Clark all the way over the top."Millions of dollars, both taxpayer BC Liberal supporters and others, were shoveled out of the back of a truck and Christy Clark couldn't manage to get elected in her own riding!!! This stunning defeat came from the person who had been both the MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey, but also front and centre as Premier for 2 years!!! She lost, even though she was running against a political neophyte, David Eby, who had far less financial resources backing him, and is an unknown quantity to a lot of people. What Eby had was an outstanding and hardworking campaign team, a brilliant mind and passion to serve the public good.

Disclaimer: This blog post in no way is meant to tarnish the reputation of the leopards of the world! Can a leopard change it’s spots? In BC the leopard is the species known as the BC Liberal Party. As you may know the Christy Clark Today’s BC Liberal’s ( the name pf the party depends upon the polling of Clark’s leadership rating) recruited all-star candidate from Langley Amrik Virk to run on their behalf in the recent provincial election. It seems that Virk is now carrying on the BC Liberal tradition of scandalistic behavior as word now comes that he was more than likely aware of some harassment going on at Kwantlen College that had one of the employees so stressed out that she kept a barf bucket handy for use after interactions with the President. I can only imagine the work-out that employee’s barf bucket got when Virk was named Advanced Education Minister in the so called New Christy Clark Cabinet. Clark, as is par for her course, is no where to be found during this episode and has issued no statement about the affair. That in itself probably speaks volumes about whether Virk was complicit in this. Should it turn out that Virk knew about this and did nothing, this would not only be a black mark against the new minister but also against the RCMP who used to employ him as a police officer in a force whose image has already been tarnished by other purported cases of harassment and associated cover ups therein. Given that Virk, Clark and Company still have over four years left on their new mandate, we should all join that employee and purchase barf buckets. With the scandal potential of this government and its leader, I am sure they will get lots of use!.

Editorial: B.C. Liberals should be ashamed about huge pay hikes to party insiders | The Province
Disgusting. There’s no other word for it. It’s absolutely disgusting that practically the first order of business of the recently re-elected Liberal government was to use public funds to reward party insiders with grotesque salary hikes.
