HMAS Moresby

Mutiny!: Naval Insurrections in Australia and New Zealand
Tom Frame von Allen & Unwin, 2001
Despite our enduring fascination with Bligh, Christian and the Bounty, few Australians or New Zealanders are aware of the naval mutinies within their national histories. Since 1916 there have been more mutinies in the Royal Australian Navy than in any other navy maintained by an English-speaking nation. New Zealand's navy, by contrast, has suf...

The Navy and the Nation: The Influence of the Navy on Modern Australia
David Stevens von Allen & Unwin, 2005
Australia has often been described as a nation shaped by war. From an early age, every Australian is taught the significance of Gallipoli and the Anzac legend. This, however, is but one dimension of the military's impact on our nation's coming of age. Australia, after all, is an island. It was the Navy which explored and founded European ...

The logical demands of the surrender were formidable. So many different ceremonies took place across Asia and the entire Pacific. Here we will some that preceded peacefully and others that refused the peace. In actuality, the state of war between the U.S. and Japan did not officially end until the Treaty of San Francisco took…

Sailing Aussie coast: Broome, WA
Tuesday - 16/07/2013 The first thing we need to do is to see where we can get the anchor winch motor repaired, a friend had given me a place that thought would be the better place but when I rang the bloke yesterday on the way in he did not sound that confident so this morning I called friend Sandy on 'Fayze Too' on the radio and said I needed some local knowledge, he invited us over stating he had a couple of people that had more local knowledge. We met Brendon and Jodie, Brendon is local and is a fitter machinist by trade, he said that he and Jodie were going into town and he could take us to a couple of places that could probably help us.
